FMCC 115 Fire Pumps and Accessories MON - FRI* 36 Hours This Class will run Mon-Thurs 9 hr days in 2009 Design and construction of fire pumps, relief valve construction and function, accessories, design and construction of priming devices, apparatus testing and fire hydraulics. Textbook will be provided. Required Materials: protective clothing, helmet, boots and hearing protection. (24 hours of "hands-on") EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Head, eye, ear, hand and foot protectionFMCC 215C Aerial Apparatus MON - FRI* 36 Hours This class identifies the advanced skills and knowledge necessary for the contemporary fire apparatus mechanic. It addresses the latest level of expertise needed to properly maintain the aerial fire apparatus in service today. Covers physical Principals of construction, testing and preventative maintenance of aerial devices commonly found in the fire service. Textbook will be provided. A calculator will be required. (16 hours of "hands-on") EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Coveralls and eye, hand, and ear protectionFMCC 109 Basic Auto and Truck Electrical Sys. MON - FRI* 36 Hours This course is designed for the student with little or no knowledge of electrical systems as they relate to automotive and truck applications. This course will cover electrical history, electrical theory, magnetism, semiconductors, transistors, relays, circuit theory, circuit building and testing, multi meter basics, batteries, charging systems, starting systems and wiring diagrams and schematics. It is recommended that the student bring a digital volt ohmmeter and calculator to class. EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Hand-held digital multi meter is required for class.FMCC 215A Electrical Systems MON - FRI* 36 Hours Theory, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems currently being used in fire apparatus. Recommended prerequisite FM-109: Basic Auto, Truck and Ambulance electrical systems or pretest required for this class. See registration form. This course will cover maintenance and tune-up procedures,with recommended methods of troubleshooting used on typical engines found in fire apparatus. Various model design features and recommended applications will be covered.
FMCC 225 Maintenance Service and Repair of Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS) MON* 8 Hours Maintenance requirements for typical air brake and ABS systems found on fire apparatus. Individual components will be discussed along with typical service requirements for each unit. Includes troubleshooting and analyzing failures. Prerequisite: Brake Theory or equivalent. FMCC 222 Small Engine Service WED&THURS* 16 Hours Proper techniques used to remove sub-assemblies. Methods used to determine wear and relationships to original specifications. Conditions which cause parts or component failure. Characteristics used to determine gasket selection. Proper techniques used to install subassemblies. FMCC 219 World Transmission Prev. Maint. FRI4 Hours This class will cover the familiarization and general construction of the medium duty Allison World Transmission and cover the hydraulic and electric theory of this transmission. Equipment Required: Bring eye protection and coveralls.FMCC 221 Foam Pro Maint. FRI 4 Hours This class will cover the familiarization and general construction and maintenance of the Foam Pro Foam Systems. Equipment Required: Bring eye protection and coveralls.FMCC 317 ATEC/WTEC THURS 8 Hours This course will cover the operation and maintenance of the ATEC/WTEC electronic controls being used on fire apparatus. FMCC 117 Apparatus Safety Inspections THURS*8 HOURS This is a one day class that will cover the latest standards and techniques used in apparatus safety and maintenance inspections on emergency vehicles. FMCC 323 Fire Apparatus Specification and Purchase TUES & WED*16 HOURS This course will offer suggestions for help in writing specifications for the pruchase of Fire Apparatus. Covered in this class will also be information on revisions to the NFPA 1901 effective in 2009. FMCC 411 Communicating in the 21st Century MON* 8 Hours The course describes the elements of the interpersonal communication process. In addition it explains and demonstrates the various techniques of communication that ensure effective communication between and among people. FMCC 406 Planning for the Future Tues* 8 Hours This course focuses on workable techniques that supervisors and managers can employ to manage time effectively. An emphasis is placed on delegation as a valuable time management tool. FMCC 409 Personal and Organizational Learning WED* 8 Hours This course is designed to inform supervisors and managers of the importance of personal power as a critical leadership concept. The purpose of the course is to convince participants that power is a necessary part of a leader’s repertoire. The module also identifies the types of power, the limitations of each type of power and the skills in building a power base through influencing and networking. FMCC 413 Finance Administration Thurs*8 HOURS The course identifies the various budgeting methods as well as a wide range of financial terms. In addition, the types of budgeting will be presented and discussed along with a wide range of financing methods. The importance of presenting budgets to senior managers will be identified and discussed.
